JOB DESCRIPTION Stanfield School District has 3 vacancies for the 2021-22 school year for bus drivers. The bus driver position is responsible for driving a bus and/or other district vehicle to transport passengers over specified routes according to time schedule

 

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to execute each requirement satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability needed for the position.

 

1. Follow oral and written instructions accurately;

2. Driving record must, for a 3-year period immediately preceding employment or any date during employment thereafter, be free of any violation for: 1) reckless driving, 2) hit and run, 3) driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or 4) more than one moving violation of any other type;

3. Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) with students, parents, and teachers;

4. Ability to work independently;

5. Ability to keep school information confidential;

6. Maintain a pleasant and friendly attitude towards students, staff and co-workers;

7. Have high standards of moral character and ability to keep school district business confidential;

8. Perform physical requirements which may include; a. Moderate degree of physical stamina b. Ability to stand, walk and bend frequently, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

 

Responsibilities and essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:

Responsibilities:

 

1. Drive a school bus safely and professionally, monitoring instrument gauges during operation.

2. Transport students to and from school; may be asked to transport passengers on field trips and/or athletic activities.

3. Perform and properly complete daily pre-trip inspections.

4. Comply with district-adopted discipline policies.

5. Participate in on-site training.

6. Utilize positive behavior management strategies while ensuring student safety and dignity.

7. Keep the bus clean, inside and out, report any damage to the transportation supervisor.

8. Maintain a steady time schedule as to the pickup and delivery of students.

9. Report any mechanical problems that arise to the transportation supervisor.

10. Perform routine evacuation drills.

11. Participate in in-service and/or professional development programs, funded by the district, when requested by administrator/supervisor.

12. Comply with all applicable district, state, and federal policies and laws.

13. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Educational/Vocational Requirements:

1. High school diploma or equivalent__required.

2. Current Oregon driver’s license__required.

3. Current CDL__preferred or must be at least 21 years of age to qualify to obtain CDL license. Training will be offered.

4. Passenger endorsement__preferred or ability to obtain.

5. Current first aid card__preferred or ability to obtain.
