This is a student intern position as an Industrial Engineer intern for Lamb Weston - Boardman Center

The student intern will work 10 - 15 hours per week with a flexible schedule.

The Role

Responsible for reviewing production processes to maximize efficiency and reduce waste.

Key Accountabilities

• Review production information to understand methods and activities in manufacturing and services. This includes but not limited to production schedules, process flows and engineering specs.
• Recommend design control systems to minimize and resolve production issues and project costs.
• Develop and recommend process improvement and technology upgrades.
• Track and analyze down time reports to make recommendations for improvements.
• Enter data into computer based programs.
• Report any personnel problems, safety violations or hazards, infractions of plant rules, etc. to the Supervisor
• Maintain a neat and clean work area at all times and exhibit good personal hygiene
• Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Ability to read, write and speak basic English.
• Ability to learn and understand precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models.
• Basic personal computer skills.
• Ability to learn how various systems interact and how changes in operations, the environment and other conditions will affect outcomes.
• Work well with all employees.
• Ability to effectively speak and listen to information in one on one and in small group situations with other employees of the organization.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out oral instructions and/or simple one or two step instructions.
• Ability to wear and use appropriate PPE like ear plugs, hair net, safety glasses and hard hat.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• The surface the employee must walk on is a level, non-slip concrete surface
• Must be able to climb up two (2) to twenty (20) steps
• Use hands to finger, handle, or feel
• Reach with hands and arms and talk or hear
• Good vision and good reflexes
