This position is based out of our IMESD office located in Pendleton, OR. (Some flexibility may be offered WITHIN our IMESD region)

 

SUMMARY 

The job of an IMESD Online Elementary Teacher is to provide engaging, grade level specific virtual instruction and learning opportunities to elementary students from InterMountain Education Service District regional school districts.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each responsibility and essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Individuals will hold a valid driver’s license and have reliable, insured transportation for travel in the Intermountain Education Service District region.

 

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE

  • TSPC certification in teaching, elementary endorsed
  • Master’s degree in an education related field preferred
  • Familiarity in content and curriculum from range of elementary grade levels and programs
  • Familiarity in providing online instruction 
  • Minimum of 5 years teaching experience preferred
  • Bilingual preferred

 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS 

  • Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials, equipment, and technology
  • Assign and grade course assignments and assessments
  • Establish clear and consistent expectations for students’ academic and behavioral performance 
  • Demonstrate use of virtual student engagement techniques
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively use Google Classroom and other applicable platforms  
  • Conduct weekly student and family check-ins through multiple modes of communication 
  • Engage families to encourage parent involvement and communication
  • Promptly respond to student and family support needs
  • Evaluate student progress towards mastery of key concepts
  • Track and record daily student attendance 
  • Provide basic technology support for students and families
  • Demonstrate skills in providing equitable learning opportunities for students with diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds  
  • Communicate with InterMountain Online Coordinator 
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide virtual instruction to multiple students across multiple grade levels (K-2 or 3-5)
  • Participate in applicable professional learning opportunities
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others  
  • Perform all related delegated or required work to accomplish the objectives of the InterMountain Online Learning program  
  • Meet regularly with IMESD Online Learning Coordinator and Teaching and Learning team
  • Perform other duties assigned by IMESD Online Learning Coordinator and Director of Teaching and Learning

 

EVALUATION

This position will be evaluated using the IMESD evaluation cycle and associated forms and report to the Online Learning Coordinator and Director of Teaching and Learning
